The Piston
(About 1964/65)
The huge polished piston,
All coated in oil,
Thick, oozing oil,
Began to withdraw from its stroke.
It slid up its shaft with a faint swishing noise
As it slid on the oil.
Then it stopped its ascent.
For one brief moment it paused,
Then it pounced
Back downwards again.
