It's No Good……
(1/6/1971)
It's no good just lying awake here
And pretending that she's on your mind
'Cos you only just met her and she'll probably forget you
And not want to see you again.
It's no use just lying here thinking
'Cos you're falling in love with love.
You just love the idea that her love was right here.
She might not want to see you again.
It's no use just lying here scheming
Great things you can do up ahead.
It might all fall through with the drop hard on you
If she don't want to see you again.
But you're lying awake here for all that
With thoughts going round in you head.
And you know you'll be sad if the whole thing turns bad
For you know you must see her again.
I met an American girl in Spokane for whom I felt a considerable attraction. We flirted, but it came to very little. I think the English boy was a bit exotic for her, and her father was probably relieved. But there were some verses (some bad, others better).
