I Live
(8th-9th January 2008)
I live here in this world –
A house, a street, a town, the sky,
A host of people passing by,
A world of things that catch my eye.
I live within my head –
Oblivious of the world around,
Heedless of talk or other sound,
Lost, perhaps, in thoughts profound.
I live within a past
Peopled by family gone before
Who gave their double-helix store,
Their traits, their lives, their lore.
I live in family and friends
Who share their thoughts and talk with me,
Who laugh and eat and walk with me
And I am in their memory.
I live within my dreams –
A hopeful, restless better place,
Fit for a better human race,
Where those I love find grace.
