Only a child.
A vacant mind, a state of simply being.
Stop.
And wonder.
Marvel at the library of his learning,
And watch him through the years
As he assimilates the knowledge,
The vast store.
Hallow his naivety
On his nativity
And sorrow that his childish world must crash
Before he steps abroad
A Man.
Only a child.
So Perfect!
Looking back at this, I'd say it shows substantial progress. It still satisfies me. It takes the theme of a young man looking with young adult eyes at the miracle of the new-born baby. It is mainly non-rhyming, relying on rhythm to take us through.
