Birthday Greetings

Tomorrow is my beloved’s birthday.
I shall be far from her in body,
But close in spirit.
The sun will shine brighter,
The sky be bluer,
The grass greener.
I shall be sad because we are far apart,
But happy that she is my sweetheart.
I shall take her to dine on my return home.
We shall have a special evening to compensate,
commemorate.
I shall give her a present which perhaps we shall never forget,
which will cost no money but perhaps be worth half my soul
And half hers.
